v2.3
Feature
Cockpit displays + auto-record on takeoff.
The biggest in-flight upgrade since 1.0. Auto-record detects takeoff from accelerometer + airspeed and starts logging the GPS track without you touching anything. The cockpit surface reads like the panel: PFD artificial horizon, altitude/airspeed/VSI tape gauges, HSI with live wind vectors, turn coordinator + slip/skid ball, Zulu clock, persistent in-flight banner.
- Live Activity for active flights on lock screen + Dynamic Island (iOS 16.2+).
- Flight replay — scrub the timeline post-flight for altitude/speed at any point.
- Debrief summary — fuel burn, distance, time aloft, landing analysis.
- Diversion finder ranks nearby fields by runway length, lighting, fuel.

v2.3
Feature
Storm Center + mesoanalysis layers.
SPC Day 1/2/3 outlooks shipped with the mesoscale discussions parsed for affected counties. The layers underneath are the ones a chaser actually uses — STP, SCP, MLCAPE, lifted index, 0-1 km storm-relative helicity. Stackable on the same map as live storm reports (hail size, wind gust, tornado probability) and optional cloud-to-ground lightning. Sounding + wind-hodograph profiles per location.

v2.3
Feature
AI pre-flight briefings + 10 Siri Shortcuts.
Pre-flight briefings are now AI-summarized — plain-English call-outs of the hazards along the route. Ten Siri Shortcuts ship: Check Weather, Check Flight Category, Get METAR, Get Winds, Storm Risk, Go/No-Go, Weather Briefing, Favorites Weather, Forecast Summary, Flight Timer. Spoken responses tuned for cockpit headsets.

v2.3
Platform
Apple TV app shipped.
Full-screen weather display for the kitchen or living room — radar loop, 10-day forecast grid, current conditions, severe-weather alerts when relevant for the location. tvOS focus engine for the remote. Joins iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch as a shipping surface.

v2.3
Feature
Airspace + TFR + SUA on the planning map.
Route deconfliction live in the planning hub. TFR overlays from tfr.faa.gov, SUA airspace from FAA, AIR SIGMET + GFA boundaries. Anything restricted along your path lights up before you launch.

v2.3
Feature
Pilot profile · logbook, currency, personal minimums.
The long-term layer beneath every flight. Logbook auto-totals by category (VFR/IFR/night/cross-country). Currency tracker watches 60/90-day landing + approach requirements. Personal-minimums editor + background scanner that pings you when a favorite airport or planned route dips below your minimums. IMSAFE self-assessment integrated into Go/No-Go. Per-aircraft pre-flight checklist runner.

Pivot
Free for every pilot.
Pro tier removed. Every feature — proactive briefings, route weather, severe-weather alerts, full TAF decoder — is in the free download. Existing subscribers refunded for unused time. Full story →

Infra
Xcode Cloud wired up.
Every push to main now triggers a Xcode Cloud build + TestFlight delivery. Setup notes published as the first Lab guide. ~12-minute end-to-end.

Infra
Multi-source data fallbacks.
Open-Meteo went down for a stretch. Reintegrated Apple WeatherKit, NWS, OpenWeatherMap, and WeatherAPI.com as cascading fallbacks behind Open-Meteo. Where Weather.Co gets its data →
- Each source has its own quality score and freshness budget.
- Aviation weather (METAR/TAF) still goes through NWS first.
- Public proxies (
/api/public/metar, /api/public/taf, /api/public/aircraft) edge-cached.

Polish
Runtime performance pass.
LazyVStack across the airport-search and route-weather lists. Per-tile defer-loading on the lab specimens. Cold-start budget down ~30%.
2026-05
Feature
Full-screen radar via MapLibre.
Radar page moved to Radar.html via RadarMapBridgeView. Embedded maps continue to use the inline Mapbox interactive HTML. Catalog-driven overlay system (RadarOverlay.all).
2026-05
Feature
CFI & flight-school program live.
Standing promise: Weather.Co is free for CFIs and flight schools, forever. Roster-onboarding flow at /cfi. As of 2026-06-22, this is upstream of the new "free for every pilot" rule — the CFI program continues unchanged.
2026-04
Feature
~170 features in 21 areas, marked Free / Pro / Roadmap.
Internal feature audit. Tagged every shipped screen and every backlog item against an area + tier. The audit's outcome was a much shorter Pro list than expected, which informed the 2026-06-22 pivot.
2026-Q1
Launch
1.0 launched.
First public version. iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch. Aviation-first weather for general aviation pilots, with the studio's standing rules (no subscription on the data, no telemetry, on-device-AI briefings).
